Home Sweet SMU

Well, that's Dallas Hall in the background. We've made it back. This weekend has been amazing. We were blessed with safe travel and made it all in one piece. Pony Up and Go Stangs!

Thanks, SMU mom!

We just hit the road again after some delicious spaghetti, sausage, and rolls cooked by Mrs. Slack (Will's mom) in Shreveport. While eating, we took turns playing ping-pong and fast-forwarding through the bowl game to find ourselves on TV!
We've got three hours until we're back at SMU, and then we've each got about an hour on the road to home. Lucky for me, after just one day, I'll be back at SMU, the happiest place in the world (except for Disney World). Pony up!

Heading back to the Hilltop

After stopping for a little breakfast at Subway, it was my turn to drive the SMU "billboard." Despite going through some pretty heavy rainfall, spirits are still high, we're making great time, and we know the sun must be shining bright on the Hilltop!

The group is still in awe of how amazing this trip has been, and we are so excited for what the future holds at SMU. After the game last night we had a chance to mingle with some of SMU's finest alumni, including Hall of Fame running back Eric Dickerson! He was gracious enough to take another photo with us no longer in costume. It's been such an amazing trip, and we can't wait to get back to campus for our second semester.

A great day for Mustangs

Image_3
After a fantastic game, we went back to the hotel to shower before getting some food. Before leaving, we got ANOTHER picture with Eric Dickerson. Then we went to Dreamland barbecue with Raymond, whom we had met at a gas station in Jackson, MS on the way here. The food was great, and we had a good time talking with our new friend while watching some of the NFL playoff games. What a great day!

After enjoying a delicious barbecue dinner at Dreamland, the four of us retreated to our hotel room at the Sheraton. Although we had plans of hanging out with fellow Stangs, exhaustion quickly set in. We opted for a night in. Thanks to Braven's forward-thinking, we were able to play spades in the hotel room. Our game of cards consisted of the Saints/Lions game, SNL, and reflections on the Mustang victory. We came to the conclusion that most other days would pale in comparison; yesterday was a day that will not soon be forgotten. Pony pride is spreading across the nation! SMU has much to look forward to; the best is yet to come.

Mustang Pride

What a great day for the Mustangs. Fans from across the country came to Birmingham to cheer the team. Some senior players said the journey started right here at Legion Field with their first conference road victory under June Jones in 2009. Today was the 100th career college victory for Jones, who said "We're excited about where we are headed. It's a great time to be in Dallas at SMU." There was a great show of spirit from the sea of red in the crowd of more than 29,000, including SMU great Eric Dickerson. They cheered the players, the Mustang Band and Peruna, wearing his commemorative blanket in honor of the University's 100th birthday. Enjoy these photos. Watch for the full gallery coming Monday.

Perfect end to a perfect day

I don't use the word perfect very often, but today was nothing short of it. How else do you describe meeting President Turner, getting on ESPN, and taking a picture with THE Eric Dickerson? The weather was beautiful - 60 degrees and sunny. Our Mustangs pulled off a 28-6 win against a solid Pittsburgh team. I love my school.
